Purslane is a unique plant considered to be a medicinal plant by nutritionists and a weed by agriculturists. This plant is found in most parts of the globe – from Europe, Asia, Mediterranean regions, north Africa, North America, to India.
This plant has a waxy cover, is more tolerant of pests. Some varieties of purslane are known to have antifungal properties as well. A unique property of this plant is that it reduces the salinity of soil. When grown in soils which are highly saline, purslane removes the salt, thereby increasing the yield of the soil.
