This tropical evergreen houseplant gets its name from the bright red tubular flowers that bloom in clusters from burgundy buds between spring and fall. This plant is best suited for hanging pots thanks to its waxy green leaves that cascade downwards like a vine. These plants also look great in tall planters.
Being native to tropical South Asia, this plant prefers warmth and humidity, however, they do best in filtered or dappled light making them the perfect addition to porches and balconies. When grown in these conditions, the plant will bloom clusters of flowers almost throughout the year, but more so during the summer. The fragrance of the flower is extremely mild but not particularly pleasant. The flowers tend to attract hummingbirds.
