This. ornamental plant prefers the tropics. Given its latex yielding properties, Ficus elastica ‘Tineke’ is often confused with Pará rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis), the main source of latex for the rubber industry.
Ficus Elastica ‘Tineke’ has oblong, broad and variegated leaves growing on a short stem. The regular plants have broad and dark green leaves. The variegated versions have leaves that come in gray and white leaves or green leaves having white or yellow lines. The plant belongs to the fig genus Ficus (one of over 700 varieties of ficus plants). This relatively fast-growing plant reaches maturity usually between 2-8 feet
